Rich in cricket history, the sport is as popular today as it was 100 years ago and the players are hero worshiped by the locals. Some of the best past cricketers in the world hail from Guyana including Basil Butcher, Colin Croft, Roy Fredericks, Lance Gibbs, Roger Harper, Carl Hooper, Alvin Kallicharran, Rohan Kanhai and the great West Indies captain, Clive Lloyd.

Lloyd led the great West Indies team of the 70s and 80s who dominated the world and are arguably the best team ever in the history of the sport.
